    I'm on a Win 10 PC.

    I had no issues until 2 days ago when I tried to change the install drive for one game to c: instead of my storage drive f: . The Xbox App immediately gave the "this location isn't setup for installing games" error on the c: drive selection. So I went back to try and install on f: . Now the same "this location isn't setup for installing games" error came up for that drive as well. A drive I have been installing games from this app on since day one of subscribing. I looked up both posts in this support forum and various other forums.

    Troubleshooting Steps:

    Added the f: drive to the default where new apps are installed under settings / storage : Error Persists

    I have done the repair, reset, terminate options under settings / apps for both the XBox App and Microsoft Game Services : Error Persists
    I have uninstalled the Xbox App, then used powershell to uninstall the Microsoft Game Services. Then reinstalled using MS Store : Error Persists
    I have booted to a USB Linux os, deleted the WindowsApps folder on F:, rebooted my PC and re attempted to choose my F: drive: Error Persists
    I have uninstalled Microsoft Game Services using powershell, then reset the XBox App: Game will attempt to install, however as soon as Microsoft Game Services installs (It automatically starts installing it when the game downloads) the game download / install fails. Error Persists.

    I have been on the phone with MS Support for two days now for hours at a time but dropped my call every time with no call back. I really don't want to have to cancel my gamepass subscription. I really do like it. But if I can't install games, I'll just have to drop it.

    Tried the local admin creation. Rebooted and logged in with the new local admin ID. Installed XBox app and went to attempt to download a game. Same error at the drive selection screen.

    Used the SFC scan on both drives. No errors.

    All windows updates are up to date.

    I can't partition this drive any further.

    However, with idea of a fresh drive. I did completely format a separate drive with NTFS. I added the drive to my PC and then went to settings / storage and set the new drive G: as the "Where new apps are installed" drive. Windows created a Program Files and WindowsApps folder as expected.

    I then opened up the XBox App and went to install a game. At first the new drive appeared selectable. However, as soon as I selected the new drive it immediately got the orange triangle error with "this location isn't setup for installing games" So the issue still persists.

    Correct, I'm not using an insider build or part of the insider program. I'll try creating the local admin and reply later.
