Can't Install Game Pass Games to Specific Drive. Error: "This drive isn't formatted as...

All windows updates are up to date.

I can't partition this drive any further.

However, with idea of a fresh drive. I did completely format a separate drive with NTFS. I added the drive to my PC and then went to settings / storage and set the new drive G: as the "Where new apps are installed" drive. Windows created a Program Files and WindowsApps folder as expected.

I then opened up the XBox App and went to install a game. At first the new drive appeared selectable. However, as soon as I selected the new drive it immediately got the orange triangle error with "this location isn't setup for installing games" So the issue still persists.

I think I have finally solved it. I tried to move a smaller game that had downloaded to my internal SSD to my external hard drive and it gave me an error that my external hard drive is in the wrong format for the game. After doing some searching I found
that for a lot of the games on game pass the storage needs to be formatted to NTFS and my hard drive - like a lot of usb storage devices - is formatted to exFAT so I reformatted my drive and tried again which didnt work at first but then i moved the smaller
game over from my internal hard drive to my external hard drive and it now lets me install the other games no problem. The error message it gives you is wrong it should say incorrect drive format but instead it tries to install on the internal drive which
then doesn't have enough space and then gives you the error message. It did mean I'm having to reinstall around 500 Gb of games which is not ideal

I had the same error with Minecraft dungeons, and i solved installing in my Hard drive principal the C: one.

I have two drives on my laptop i don't know why i can't install on my second drive, i can install all the game pass games except Minecraft dungeons u.u

Is this on game pass PC Beta? If so you have to download to the default drive that it creates.

I'm sure you mean well but....

You don't have to install to the 'default' drive whatever that is.

If your Windows 10 is working correctly - and error codes usually mean it isn't - you can instal on any drive.

I have four drives for my PC, three internal and one external. I can use them all for PC game Pass games.

Game Pass games use protected folders, and if format Windows, it no longer recognizes any game even if it is on another external hard drive or hard drive. If you install it on a Windows or PC you don't recognize any of the games.
