Can't go past the "Choose how you look on Xbox" window

Hi. I just purchased State of Decay 2 and it requires me to use my Microsoft account. I signed in and it asked me to make a gamertag of some sort. I typed a name that I like then click on the "let's go" button after making sure the name is available (it is available even after I double-checked it), then... nothing. it got stuck. I retyped the exact same name... and lo and behold, the name is already taken. I tried another name, and AGAIN, it said that the name is available. I clicked on the green confirm button... AND IT DOES NOTHING. the name is available, I made sure of it before I clicked confirm, but then IT GOT STUCK ON THE BLASTED WINDOW WITHOUT ME EVEN ABLE TO DO ANYTHING ELSE. I clicked on one of the four available random names, clicked confirm, then... NOTHING. I CANT GET PAST THIS BLASTED WINDOW. PLEASE FIX YOUR DAMN SIGNING IN PROCESS, I CAN'T EVEN PLAY THE GAME I JUST BOUGHT WHAT THE HECK

I understand what you are going through and as a fellow gamer, we all just wanted to play what we paid for. With regards to creating an Xbox profile or gamertag, not seeing anyone yet posting the same problem so it could be an account specific issue or device.

Is this the page where you tried to change your gamertag https://social.xbox.com/changegamertag ? Try to sign in your Microsoft account as well first via https://account.microsoft.com page. Once you are signed in, go to https://account.xbox.com/profile page next to see if it will generate a gamertag for you.

This is how I was able to setup my profile before, but hope it works for you too. Let us know here how it goes so we fellow members can try to assist further.

I tried to sign in to my xbox account using microsoft edge. the exact same thing happen. I can't go past the exact same window. I tried using chrome. the exact same thing happen, I still can't go past the blasted choose your gamertag window. what is this?

Can't wait for it.

But I can't wait to see how Xbox LIVE will tie into Windows 8.

Right now Xbox LIVE will be integrating some Windows Phone functions into it and I have a Windows Phone so I'm looking forward to those things.

But yeah... Windows 8 guys. It's going to be awesome.

Hi,

It looks like some the the components of your Xbox app is corrupted, that is why you can't remove the Xbox app that you downloaded. Here are instructions below on how to remove Xbox app:

    1. Type Windows Powershell in search box.

    2. Right click on Windows Powershell and select Run as administrator.

    3. Copy and paste the following command.

         get-appxpackage *Microsoft.XboxApp* | remove-appxpackage 

4. Press Enter key.
