    Hello, I have a problem with my external SSD.

    I have an Xbox Series S, and my Xbox sees my external SSD Samsung portable SSD T5 with 2 tb but only for media, there is no option to use it for games, and there is no option to format it for games.

    I have tried formatting it with mac and PC to different formats such as NTFS, FAT32, and EXFAT etc, but nothing helps.

    It also says that the device is too slow and it needs to be USB 3.0.

    I think the problem can be with cords, but I have tried all the cords I have in my house, and it didn't help.

    Don't recommend me to unplug, replug, restart, format etc, I have tried everything.

    It don't ask me to format it once I plug it to my xbox,

    I have tried different ports too, watched all youtube videos, and topics here, nothing works.

    The original one would definitely be 3.1 but I presume that is one you don't have? I know some USB cables are not very good at transmitting data which is why the Xbox thinks it not 3.1. Also presume you are plugging it into the USB port on the rear?

    Hello Nick M! I'm Kris and I'd be happy to help you with your question. Sorry to hear about the issues you are having with the external drive. In a lot of cases, it turns out to be the USB cable which is the cause. Not all cables are 3.1 (even if they state they are). Are you using the USB cable that came with it or is that one lost or something like that?
    I think I use some random cable, but I have tried lots of diffent ones.

    Sorry to hear about the issues you are having with the external drive. In a lot of cases, it turns out to be the USB cable which is the cause. Not all cables are 3.1 (even if they state they are). Are you using the USB cable that came with it or is that one lost or something like that?

    you're trying to use this to store Xbox one games correct you're not trying to use it to store and play series X/X games right?

    Because that's where you would get a speed message usually

    You're using the usb c to A adapter right?
