  1. Can't enable DTS:X with Denon soundbar

    I've got the Denon DHT-216 hooked up directly to my Series X. I can't enable DTS:X on the Xbox app though. When I try to choose it in the audio settings, it says my device doesn't support it, yet I believe it does. I can enable DTS Digital Surround. Any ideas?

    Xbox One X Audio settings - stereo uncompressed or bitstream

    On the website for this soundbar it lists that the bar has HDMI in and out, as well as optical in.

    In order to find out where the drop outs happen (it might even be an incompatibility with your TV and ARC, where the TV is sending erroneous data via ARC to the soundbar), try the following test scenarios:

    Connect the Xbox to the HDMI in port of the soundbar, and check if the soundbar can relay the video to the TV via HDMI out (if necessary, in standard 1080p instead of 4k, just for this test).

    Additionally, try to connect the console to the soundbar via optical TOSLINK cable, and use Bitstream via optical cable to get surround sound from the soundbar.

    If the drop outs disappear when the console is directly connected to the soundbar via optical cable or HDMI in instead of ARC, your TV might be the culprit.

    As for the "best" setting:

    Using Stereo uncompressed only gives you left and right channel audio, as if you only had two speakers.

    With Dolby Digital and DTS you at least get surround sound where sound could appear to come from behind you.

    I don't know how the Virtual: X from DTS works (if it's upscaled from a "standard" DTS signal, or requires a native DTS:X signal). However, if your TV's ARC doesn't support the 3D spatial sound formats DTS:X or Dolby Atmos, you would be better off connecting
    the console directly to the soundbar via HDMI, and letting the soundbar forward the video signal to the TV.

    Not getting audio from Live TV

    I also can't seem to get audio...I am not connecting to a soundbar, just through my TV. I tried to change the settings to DTS but apparently my TV doesn't support it.. The video on Live TV works great but no sound

    Dolby Atmos delay on Xbox Series X

    Updated:

    I found that my soundbar SONY HT Z9F soundbar use HDMI 2.0 of which bandwidth is 18gbs connect to my TV using eARC port, so I changes my HDMI to

    8K HDMI of which soundbar is 48gbs, and the delay improve a lot that it is hard to notice now.

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    I have tested. My set is

    TV has enable eARC and set sound passthrough, HDMI BITSTREAM. XBOX SERIES allows PASSTHROUGH.

    XBOX SERIES X --> LG 65 QNED90 --> SONY HT Z9F (eARC)

    there is very noticeable delay on Atmos but don't have delay on any uncompressed sound like 5.1 or 7.1

    XBOX SERIES X --> SONY HT Z9F (eARC) --> LG 65 QNED90

    the atoms sound is sync with image, but I got a ton of delay on controller input, so I set TV image mode to Game Optimize,

    and set game mode to FPS, the controller input delay is gone, but now, i got atoms delay back...

    By the way, because my TV doesn't support DTS - X PASSTHROUGH, so when I connect XBOX to my soundbar, I could enable DTS X, and DTS X is working perfectly and there is no any delay comparing to Dolby Atmos.

    Razer Blade 15 with RTX 2070 MAX Q --> LG 65 QNED90 --> SONY HT Z9F (eARC)

    I don't have any input or atmos sound delay in this set.

    So here is conclusion:

    xbox series x has issue to passthrough Atmos content, even thought it is directly connect to sound bar, the sound or TV try to delay image to sync with atmos sound which causes a ton of input delay. But once you set the TV into low legacy input mode to get rid of input delay, the Atmos sound delay will be back.

    And Razer blade 15 with RTX 2070 MAX Q which is PC is perfectly working at Atmos without any issue.

    So this is definitely XBOX SERIES X ISSUE!!!!
