Can't edit old video clips ("That clip will not work. Pick a different one and try again")

I've been going through all of my game clips, clipping them shorter, and then compiling them into short montages to (a) clear up space, (b) clean up / organize all of my clips, and (c) I'm enjoying creating them. I did this for Rocket League earlier today. My
oldest clips were about 4 months old for that game, and I had no issues with being able to edit anything of them.

A short while ago, I was going through my Halo 5: Guardians clips, and I had to stop because none of my old clips seem to be editable (I want my montages to be chronological). I am able to edit and trim a clip from 199 days ago (and all clips from
more recent dates), but when I try to open up the editor for a clip that is from 200 days ago (and all clips from earlier dates), it gives me a pop-up which says, "Something went wrong. That clip will not work. Pick a different one and try again.". Despite
that, I am able to (a) watch the clip in its entirety, and (b) rename it, so it can't be that the clip is corrupted. Furthermore, I have tried to edit several of these older clips, and none of them are editable for some reason. So I can only conclude that
it has something to do with the date.

Are clips older than 200 days ago non-editable? Is this a glitch? Is this how it is supposed to be? How can I fix it? Is my only solution recording the screen watching the clip?

Error when editing video clips using the Upload Studio app.

Recently, I think after I have the update, I could not edit any of the video clips using the Upload Studio (or is it Game DVR) app. When I'm in the middle of editing, it'll show the following error:

Please choose a different clip

Sorry, there's a problem with that one and we need to remove it. (0x80040210)

Problem is, the video clip is not removed so now I can't edit or upload any clips at all. Help?

 

Can't add clip to upload studio.

I recently pieced together a bunch of clips and uploaded it with the intent of adding music. After I uploaded the base video to my Xbox and live, it won't let me add the clip back to upload studio.

If I go the the clip directly and click edit, it opens the studio then says that something went wrong. That clip won't work. Pick a different one and try again.

Then if I start from scratch in studio and go to add clip, it doesn't even show up. I made new clips and new creations to try to push it through but they are all available and the one I want still isn't.

I can share it, and watch it. Upload studio just won't accept it again.

Any fixes or wait for microsft?

 

I ended up finding a working solution!

Firstly, it is not possible to DVR a clip, so this solution failed right away. However, I found that if you go to "Start From Scratch", have the "type" to "Game DVR", then "Add Clip", and then add one of these old clips that isn't able to be edited, you'll
be able to trim it as normal. What I was doing before was going to "Manage Clips", then finding the video I wanted to edit, and clicked on the "Edit" option (to the right of "Rename").

We appreciate you reaching out on the forums with this issue. We're glad that you were able to find a solution for this issue on your own as well. Sometimes if there is a One Drive available to upload to, older clips can be stored on there, or even be deleted.
