I also tried all of that and a lot of more, but sadly that error keeped bothering me so much i could not do anything else.

I did a factory restart and now everything works. Thats sadly the only thing that worked for me.

I'm encountering the same error, however I've never been able to install anything from Xbox (beta). Windows update by itself updates without issue and the normal microsoft store is able to install software as well, it's just the xbox app that seems to have
this issue.

I've also run wsreset.exe to clear the ms store cache and I've deleted the contents of windows\SoftwareDistribution as some blog posts and discussions of 0x80070057 errors recommend trying those actions.

I'm not willing to reinstall windows to use the this xbox subscription thing so please don't ask me to try that.

Pretty much all the error codes PC Game pass flags up are actually Windows errors. The Game Pass app is just an extension of the Windows Store - it doesn't even need to be running once a game is installed.

I asked about storage, as error 0x80070057 relates to low storage. But clearly, this isn't the problem here.

The Xbox App isn't a stand alone downloading app like for example, Steam or GoG. The Xbox App is simply a portal to allow you to download Game Pass games. The downloading is actually completed via the Windows Store.

Since Xbox App uses the Windows Store, error code 0x80070057 is actually a Windows 10 error code. There are many guides on the net to potentially fix this error, just google 'Windows error 0x80070057 like this

Likewise, error code 0x80070005 is also a Windows 10 error often referred to as an 'access denied' error. If you get this error when trying to change where default applications are installed, it typically means there is already a folder on the drive from
a previous PC or Windows installation.

Did you take any of these drives from a previous PC or have you recently re-installed Windows 10 from scratch?

All Windows 10 Applications install to a hidden folder called WindowsApps. On the C:\ drive, WindowsApps is located in a hidden folder in C:\Program Files.
Do not attempt to modify this folder. On other drives the WindowsApps folder will be located in the Root directory. So on say F:\ drive it would be F:\WindowsApps.

Do you already have a WindowsApps folder in your F:\ drive?
