Cant download profile

My son wants to play doubles on a Modern Warfare game like we did back in the day. I need a different profile to play or we loose progress but when I use old one or set up a new one like now, its still does not work. Says cant download profile fully from
xbox live - NOTE I have not signed up to x box live as just want to play this gave with son - but it should still work. We are using x box one

Any help is appreciated.

Same thing happening to me. Except customer service had me delete my profile now I can't download it back. Same code.
