    I'm getting this problem too.

    Cleared the cache, tried using the site, tried restarting xbox a few times, disabled 2 step, everything.

    Can't download a dang thing.

    It's especially frustrating when said thing is FREE.

    What's worse is "Buy this item with money in your Microsoft account" means nothing, since

    1. This item is free

    2. Can't do that even if I want to because, oh right, I'D NEED TO BE ABLE TO CONFIRM THAT.

    It sits there, loading the confirm section so I can say what I want, and before it finished loading, this error pops up.

    No error CODE, because this error pop-up doesn't work that way.

    Love that support has been 100% worthless in this area.

    I have started getting exactly the same message. I never have and never will register my CC with Microsoft. XBOne GWG can be bought and downloaded fine but 360 GWG Free games I get this error. I know you can't (and never have been able to) 'purchase'
    360 GWG via the website so I always boot up my 360 just to purchase them. Now I can't even get them via my 360! It has effectively halved the GWG I can get with my Gold subscription.

    What gives Microsoft!?

    Spent an hour on chat to support. After clearing cache, removing and re-downloading profile etc etc... Still didn't work.

    Support said try adding a CC (which I didn't want to do but they promised to remove it immediately). Added a CC to my MS account via the web, rebooted console and error disappeared.

    Support then removed the CC details. I tried to download a free video - error back.

    Upshot is, the system is broken. Support confirmed you should not need a registered CC if 'purchasing' via the 360 itself and have reported it to their systems team. Due to go through it all again when Mirror's Edge released on 16th.....

    So it's not you, it's the LIVE system that is borked.

    i figured it out. Delete all the extra prepaid cards u might have in your account. Also change the billing email you have in your account it should work. Did for me .

    support sending you to the boards does only unfortunatly mean: he didnt know what to look for or didnt find it.

    you are trying to download something that is completly free, and you are directly trying to download via your xbox360, you are not using marketplace.xbox.com? ok.

    is there any kind of error code shown? then you can check it here
    support.xbox.com/error-code-lookup

    if there is no error code shown, you could try following

    checking your current billing information

    -> navigate to settings

    -> account

    -> 2steps right

    -> billing information

    remove and redownload your gamertag to your console

    -> navigate to settings

    -> system

    -> storage

    -> select your storage device

    -> profiles

    -> delete your profile !BUT ONLY PROFILE!

    -> go back to storage select and highlight your hdd, press y

    -> delete systemcache

    -> press the guide button and select download profile

    Been a month now and my xbox gold is almost over. Talked a total of 8 people from support now and nobody knows what is going on. Account all looks good. No internet problems because when i log my brother in there is no problem. My patience is starting to
    drop.
