Can't dowload annything. Credit card info couldn't be retrieved.

So i have an xbox account since the start of xbox360. I never used a creditcard because is dont have one. I always dowloaded content on my 360 with no problems. And i used prepaid cards so buy MS points.

I recently tried to dowload the GTA V addons after about a year of not playing, because you need them to get online. This are free dowloads. But i get an error message saying "your credit card info couldn't be retrieved. Buy this item with money in your
microsoft account or try again later." So i checked if it is something just with GTA V. I tried to download the free zoo tycoon demo and get the same message. so basicly, i cant dowload anny more on my 360.

I also asked my friend to try to do the same, dowload GTA V addons needed to get online an the zoo tycoon demo. And he dowloads them without a problem. We both live in the Netherlands and both do not have a creditcard linked to the account.

Also contacted support and they told me to try and post here. So here i am.

Please help.

My points are gone... My $$ won't spend?

I just got a new 1600 points card to get some DLC for GTA4. Every time I try to pay it says "Your credit card info couldn't be retrieved. Buy this item with money or try again later." Why do I need a credit card for any reason? Especially when the
card says right on it "No Credit Card Needed"?

 

cannot down load anything from market place

It reads "Your credit cerd info couldn't be retrieved. But this item with money in your microsoft account or try again later.' The content I'm trying to download is free it is Acend: Hand of Kul and Spartacus Legends Bounis packs, all of which are free.
And I try to verifi my info for my credit card and it tells me that my credit card info cannot be accessed. Need to know what is going on, is my credit card info safe?

 

support sending you to the boards does only unfortunatly mean: he didnt know what to look for or didnt find it.

you are trying to download something that is completly free, and you are directly trying to download via your xbox360, you are not using marketplace.xbox.com? ok.

is there any kind of error code shown? then you can check it here

if there is no error code shown, you could try following

checking your current billing information

-> navigate to settings

-> account

-> 2steps right

-> billing information

remove and redownload your gamertag to your console

-> navigate to settings

-> system

-> storage

-> select your storage device

-> profiles

-> delete your profile !BUT ONLY PROFILE!

-> go back to storage select and highlight your hdd, press y

-> delete systemcache

-> press the guide button and select download profile

 

Yeah already did those 2 things and it did not help. I dont have anny billing information because i dont have a visa, mastercard or american express. And also do not use paypall. If i want something i always use prepaidcards.

 

when you setup a new gamertag and try to redeem a ppc, there is a popup "please add billing info", if you skip it, you wont be able to use ppc. so it seems billing information are required, dont know since when, but without it doesnt work anymore.

 

its not required because my friends also do not have a creditcard and dowload without a problem

 

Did you try to download the items from the website here? If not please try to do that.

 

you dont necessarily need a credit card, only billing information, that is address, name, phone etc.

i wont ask you to try with a new gamertag to see for yourself, but i would almost bet its the reason.

 

Already tried on the website and i get the same message.

And also i have my adress, phone number etc filled in.

 

So nobody here can help me ?

Been a month now and my xbox gold is almost over. Talked a total of 8 people from support now and nobody knows what is going on. Account all looks good. No internet problems because when i log my brother in there is no problem. My patience is starting to
drop.

 

Steve did you ever get this sorted because I've just had the same problem trying to download all the required packs for La Noire and I solved it by putting my hard drive in another console. Downloaded no probs on that one but on my main console I just get
that credit card error.

 

I had this happen to me. I fixed it, by clearing the cache from all drives connected, Then did a system restart.
