Can't cross-play Minecraft between Xbox One and iPhone

I'm trying to play Minecraft with my wife. She's on iPhone but using her Xbox account and has Xbox Live. I'm playing on Xbox One and also have Xbox Live. When we try to join eachothers world it says "unable to join." Not sure why this is happening. All multi-player settings are fine. Both are adult accounts. My NAT type is open. Anybody know what's going on?

Cross play on Minecraft is only available to xbox one, mobile, nintendo switch and windows 10 devices which has the better together/bedrock edition.

Realms is only available on these version of the game.

Can not do cross play between different version of the game.

Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition can only be played with other Xbox 360 consoles on Xbox Live. The Xbox One edition can only be played online with other Xbox One consoles. There is no cross-platform play between the Xbox editions and other editions of Minecraft.
