Can't Copy Epic Cloud Save Over Game Pass Cloud Save,... why!?

Being able to move cloud saves does not mean that is what the game developers intended, as that's not how cross saves works.

I guess that the way Xbox saves works helps to avoid cheating on games, but if you really like the game, don't lose the opportunity to test yourself again on it, I would never be angry about having to play a game I like again.

microsoft opted to use the file structure that way as their DRM. they are making changes which insiders can use on some games which allow installs where you want them.

the game on gamepass uses cloud saves, for console to pc or vice versa, those cloud saves on that version of the game are stored on the xbox network, microsoft does not allow changes to those saves to mitigate cheating and potential modding or gamerscore/achievement cheating, hence why you cannot just simply copy them over.

And as it is using the xbox network they can pretty much do as they like. If the dev/publisher chose too, they can enable cross save which then means they would have a central place for their cloud saves and you can access that on any platform that allows it, as long as you have an account with the dev/publisher and that was signed in on the game.

The reason you can transfer the save from epic to steam and vice versa is they allow it.

Bottom line, if the game uses cloud save on xbox network (meaning you can use that save on console and pc) then they will not allow modification or importing of a save file from another platform.

They are Cloud Saves the same as any other Cloud Save game.

The developers did add a way to cross save. It's called Cloud Saves, but you (Microsoft) for some reason have made a mess of the Cloud Save folder unlike other platforms.

This is PC. not inferior consoles. PC, Steam, & Epic Games all use the same Cloud Save system.

Yes, they are compatible, but you (Microsoft) have simply encrypted them, or something on your end so they aren't,... (NO need for it.)

If they are not compatible then why can I take the Game Pass save game files, re-name them, and apply them to Steam, or Epic, but not from them to you!!!???

I can take the contents of the WWZ Cloud Save files on Game Pass, re-name them to the proper Cloud Save names, copy & paste to Epic, or Steam Cloud Save folders, and BAM all my progress shows up in game.

Why can't I apply my Cloud Save to Game Pass so I don't lose my progress when changing Game Launchers? Why only Microsoft denies this option!?

Steam & Epic don't have some silly index & container file also slammed in the folder with broken extensions, and coded names, but you do for some reason???

Yes,... I understand your (Microsoft) not compatible, and that's what I am here to fix, or find a work around for.

There is NO good reason for you to encrypt the Cloud Save files, and I will find a way around this eventually.

Microsoft has simply decided to make life difficult for some reason unlike ALL other Cloud Save game launchers at a loss to them selves also which makes this even more stupid,.... thanks.

Why even try to make them un-compatible for??? Gamer loses out,... Microsoft gains nothing. Loses money if anything. Dumb.

They aren't even really encrypted,... just renamed with a broken file extension, and then Game Pass has an extra file that makes sure they match up on sync which is stupid. If I wanna move over my progress it should be as easy as Epic & Steam,... not all this crapolla!!!

I must have agreed to this encrypted mess, and a mess of my SSD. volumes when I signed up eh!?

A little bit frustrated at this point. This has already consumed two days of my time, and have also passed the issue on to some big time GEEKS to see what they can come up with. I can usually beat something like this, but not yet QQ.

The Xbox cloud saves are for Xbox.

The save files and data structure are not compatible

Unless the developer sets up a system using their servers, like Borderlands and GTA have done, it won't work
