Can't control my TV and my cable box with my XboxOne (Cogeco TV Magog in Canada)

Hello, I recently bought a Xbox One (without a Kinect) and I plugged in my cable box. When I saw that we need a Kinect to control the cable box and the TV I went on internet to look for an optional solution to achieve that and I
found that we’re supposed to be able to control the TV and all with a simple IR extension cable so I bought one on Amazon.

This week I finally got the cable and hook it up to the XboxOne only to find that nothing worked even with that.

I’ve tried to position the IR extension to different location in front of my TV and cable box but nothing.

As complementary information:

1. My TV is an LG TV model 47LE5300
   
2. My cable box is a PACE model DC550D with Cogeco TV Magog

Which Canadian cable/satellite providers will be supported by the XBOX One guide?

I was speaking to a Xbox rep at future shop over the weekend, he was saying OneGuide would be available at launch in canada. He said he was under the impression it wasnt either, but was told last week it would be...

Considering Samsung smart TVs have personlized Tv guides that control cables boxes, and my Peel TV app on my phone has an intergrated guide that controls my cable box, i see no reason why xbox one can't do this out of the box. They only need the TV Guide
from the cable providers. The control aspect is simply done by Kinect's IR blaster.

I'm hoping it will be working out of the box. =/

 

Only 1 HDMI connection - Want to set up TV on xbox one but not use xbox one.

Basically, I am in East Coast Canada and on bell FibreOP and we are *** out of luck.

This is what I would like to do... I have 1 HDMI connection to my TV and setting up my TV to XBOX One will not work just yet as i will need Microsoft to add my local cable company into there system, but what I would like to do is use the xbox one as a passthrough
and still control my cable box via my cable remote. I tried to set this up and didn't have any luck.

Think of it as the old school RG 46 cable and VCR trick, your cable when into the VCR and then from the VCR to the TV and you could still watch TV.

I want to output my TV signal into the XBOX ONE HDMI input and output from the xbox one to the TV, then control the Cable box from the cable remote and when I play games i don't need to switch my TV Box and XBOX one back and forth...

can anyone help with this?
