Can’t connect wireless

But my problem is that for what ever reason when I bought my xbox, I found out it didn’t connect wirelessly. It wasn’t a problem at the time because I had my router near by and could just use an ethernet. But now I have moved and the router is on another floor and an ethernet cord will not reach. So my question is what’s the best way to resolve this, I’ve researched range extenders and a considered a gaming router. But don’t know what my best option is as my xbox needs to be connected via ethernet. I’ve tried everything to get wireless to work but nothing has fixed it

Xbox One S, not series S. And I just tried and it says it connected on my phone but “can’t connect to the internet”,on my xbox

The thing is i’ve had it for over a year and every wifi i tried connecting to never worked. From my dorm, my house, friend house, and now my new house. It wasn’t a big problem before as I had a router right next to me in my dorm and could connect ethernet from that and it worked. But now that I have a house, the router is downstairs and ethernet won’t reach, nor can i drill a hole through the floor per my lease agreement. So idk if I should get my own router for just me and my gaming needs or a range extender to plug in my room or what. I just don’t know

I’m pretty sure it’s not fixable and I just need ethernet. Just don’t know what route to take
