Can’t chat to people friends or teammates in Fortnite

I have enabled Friends and Teammates for Voice chat in Fortnite but on screen it says that because he is under 10 it will only be Friends only? He can’t chat to anyone at the minute - either Friends or in partys. All his friends microphone symbols have a block or cross symbol next to them.

Should I reset the Xbox

I have tried all of this but it still doesn't work. I think it is different on a wired headset

I really can't tell what specific settings that may conflict but you need to make sure both settings below are met.

First, please make sure that your Xbox privacy settings allow you to communicate with friends only. You can do this by going to Settings > Account > Privacy & online safety > Xbox Live privacy > View details and customize > Communication & multiplayer.

Then, please check that your Fortnite voice chat settings are also set to friends only. You can do this by going to Settings > Audio > Voice Chat > Friends Only. If both settings are correct, but you still cannot hear your friends, please try restarting your game and your console.
