I am 21 years old. My account at the family settings says I am an adult, but I can't change my online xbox privacy settings so that I can play with other people. And it pisses me off. Because I just bought a new game for 50 dollars, but I can't play it because
of my xbox live privacy settings. when I try to change it, it says "unexpected error, please try again later.

please microsoft i beg you, fix this! or make it possible to change the account I'm using on the game.

You are allowed change the online safety and privacy settings for any profile on your console.

How to change your safety and privacy settings

Steps to follow:

First, you have to go to the My Account page

You need to sing in to your Xbox LIVE account clicking Sing In at the upper-right corner of the page.

Go to Settings and Preferences and select Privacy and Online Settings.

Now change the settings.

How to change your child’s safety and privacy settings

Steps to follow:

First, you have to go to the My Account page

You need to sing in to your Xbox LIVE account clicking Sing In at the upper-right corner of the page.

Proceed to Settings and Privacy and press Child.

Note: You’ll be asked for the parental Microsoft account in order to make changes to the child account’s safety settings.

Now change the settings.

Changing privacy settings on xbox one

Recently I bought a xbox one and I am having problems accessing xbox live. I ckecked my connection that is fine, I have xbox live. When I go to play advanced warefare It says this account can't play xbox live, then when I go to change my privacy settings
it says Your privacy settings are in effect, but can't be changed until we connect to the service. I do have a parent account linked with my account if that helps. My question is how do I change my privacy settings? Thanks in advance!

Once you register an xbox live account as a child account you can't change it. The parental account can change privacy settings of the child account though.

I have had my account for ~8 years, but I still do think it's odd that back then I could play multiplayer no problem, but NOW I can't.

If your account is underage you will need to be in a family group as a member and an adult account will be able to change the privacy settings of your account. I suggest to ask an adult to add you so they can manage your settings.

That's real weird. I would recommend you take a look at your age for the account, and if you need to

perform Age Verification, after making sure that it's not listed under another "adult" account as a child.
