Cant change pin settings?

Apparently I need to set a PIN or passkey to a certain number but I cant find out what it is or how to set it

You can set a sign in option on your Microsoft account to use a pin instead of password.

How do I find my Windows pin?

To change your PIN in Windows 10, you may follow the steps below:

1. Open Settings (keyboard shortcut: Windows + I) > Accounts > Sign-in options.
2. Click the Change button under PIN.
3. Enter your current PIN; then, enter and confirm the new PIN underneath.
4. Tap I forgot my PIN.

To change your sign-in preferences, such as requiring a password when signing in, follow the steps below.
Press the Xbox  button to open the dashboard.
Select Profile & System > Settings.
Under Account, select Sign in, security & PIN.
Select Change my sign-in and security preferences.
Choose one of the following options:
Do it fast, as if by magic: automatic entry, no need for a password or PIN.
Barrier-free: No password or PIN required to sign in, change settings, or make purchases.
Verify it's me: A PIN is required to sign in.
Ask for my PIN: A PIN is required to sign in, change settings, or make purchases.
Lock: Your Microsoft account password is required for almost everything.
Customize: Select this option to customize which actions require a password or PIN.

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Xbox Community. I understand that you're having issues logging in to a different computer and you're being asked for a PIN.

If the option I forgot my PIN is available, select it and follow the instructions to reset your PIN. If there are multiple accounts on the device, choose the one you need to reset. This option is only available for Microsoft accounts, not for local accounts

If the option I forgot my PIN​​​​​​​ is not available, you must sign in with your password and then reset the PIN from the Settings app. Select Sign-in options and then select Enter your password

You can also use the Settings app to change your PIN.

In the Settings app on your Windows device, select Accounts > Sign-in options or

Select PIN (Windows Hello) > Change PIN and then follow the instructions. You must enter your old PIN in order to change to a new one

If you forgot your PIN, select I forgot my PIN and follow the directions to verify your account and create a new one

I'm sorry to hear you are experiencing issues with the PIN feature.

May I ask if you have already tried changing your account's security preferences? like this:

- Sign in to the parent account
- Go to Settings > Account > Sign in, Security and PIN > Change my sign-in & Security preferences.

A) If you select "Ask for my PIN", your child will need to provide your PIN to sign in to your account or access the "Sign-in, Security and PIN" settings page.

B) If you select "Lock it down", your child will need to provide your password to sign in to your account, and your PIN to access the "Sign-in, Security and PIN" settings page.

This should prevent your child from changing your account's PIN.
