Cant change my childs info on microsoft account

To change a child account privacy settings, you'll need to login to the parent account at https://account.microsoft.com

Select Manage my child's profile info.

For the child’s account that you want to change, select Edit this child's personal info and then follow the instructions.

So try this way, not by Xbox but accessing
Microsoft Family by browser. Just log in with your account, Select Manage my child's profile info. For the child’s account that you want to change, select Edit this child's personal info and then follow the instructions. See if now you will be able to change
his name.

Usually in Xbox you cannot change your name, even you with the main account, this stuff needs to be changed directly in the Manage Microsoft Account through the website.

Just keep in mind changing the Microsoft child account birthdate does not change the Xbox profile birthdate of the child.

To change your own account from a child account to a full account, you need to prove that you're an adult. You have two options:

Show all
Option 1: Provide a valid U.S. credit card number
Option 2: Send us proof of age

Might I be able to change it a different way

There is no adult account for my child account so I cant change my child account setting. I want to purchase something but cant since i cant find my adult account. When i press on family, it only comes up with my child account.
