Can't change default app installation drive on Windows 10 for the Xbox Beta

I was using this drive to install my games on a previous installation of the system, but I had to format it and now I cannot change the default drive back to this drive because windows finds the old installation files, asks to delete them, tries to do just
that and then proceeds to eat a fat bowl of [Mod Removed - Profanity] and fails to do so. I imagine the problem is file permissions, but here's the catch: you wanna tell me that one system cannot remove the installation files from the other
system? What am I supposed to do then? I've tried to take control of the files by force, but it's never 100% effective, there are lots of files that don't have their permissions changed, so meh.

This is really frustrating because I can't even install games now.

The Sorry Partner error can be fixed by changing your DNS settings in Windows to 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4

To change the default install you need to uninstall the beta app, change your Windows default drive install settings, then re-install the beta app again.

I followed the directions and it has worked for me.

Once you follow the directions once you click on install it bring up a box asking where you want to install the game.

If you are like myself and use a modist sized drive for windows and use a larger drive for gaming you generally want to install your games on your storage drive not your boot drive, but as it stands by
default when you goto use the xbox beta app it wont allow you to change from its default installed drive.

A easy to fix this is to goto system- then storage- and under the storage tab find " change where new content is saved" then select "new apps will save to" and select your preferred storage drive.

Then uninstall your xbox (beta) app, and reinstall it, now when you goto install a new game on the pc game pass it will give you the option to select what drive you want to install it on.

This issue happens because by default windows needs to recognize that your pc has the folder called windows app on that drive and that it has been setup by a windows app installer atleast once, for the
xbox (beta) app to recognize the new (useable) install location for your games and apps

Try setting up your installation drive, press the Windows Key + I to open Settings. Click System > Storage. On Windows 10, underneath the More storage settings heading, click Change where new content is saved.

To change the default drive for new apps, use the New apps will save to dropdown. On the Xbox app, click the profile menu in the top-right and select the Settings options. Click on General. Under the “Game install options” section, select the drive to install games by default. Please try installing your games using drive C.

Thanks the response. Are you attempting to install the Beta App on a hard drive other than your C: drive(Windows Installation drive)? If the Xbox Beta App is still giving you issues will being installed please try restarting your Windows 10 PC and

checking your PC for updates.
