can't cancel past due subscriptions (legal help needed)

I see MANY posts related to this topic -- fox XBox, Office, etc.

I have a paid subscription that expired. Haven't used it. Nothing owed to MS. Want to remove it from my account but cannot.

I have contacted MS numerous times. Support people cannot help. They won't escalate it to someone who might be able to help. And, they keep telling me it will eventually "time out" & be removed from my account. In the meantime, I keep getting notifications
about the subscription being past due & it's irritating. I either keep getting harassed OR I can pay the subscription renewal.

This cannot be legal.

Anyone out there have a suggestion? This seems stupid, but maybe I need a lawyer to act on my behalf? (anyone else need this, too?)

Hi, I'm not completely sure if this will help but you can try going to system settings and then enter the account setting and you'll see a few things listed subscriptions will be one of them. Open it and when it opens up you'll see all the subscriptions
you have and when you click on one you'll be able to cancel which ever you want. I got a similar problem before but mines did stop on its on the onky problem was because the subscription extended due to whatever the cause was i had to pay for the extra time
it was being used. I really hope you get this situation sorted out, if not try contacting xbox support. https://support.xbox.com

Unfortunately, that's basically the same instructions MS provides -- and, it doesn't work for "past due" subscriptions.

Once you hit that status, the only thing you can do is pay. I cannot even remove the credit card because it says it's linked to a (past due) subscription. I've paid for all services provided... nothing owed to MS.

This problem is so pervasive & customer support has not helped me in countless contacts that I just contacted a lawyer to help me work thru this (and, yes, class action is being considered).

Maybe that will generate a useful reply from MS.

Thanks for reaching out to the forums. We understand you are trying to cancel a past due subscription. Unfortunately, a past
due subscription needs to be paid off to cancel the subscription. Once you pay the past due amount you can then cancel it out.
