Hi, maybe something on the link below will help, there's a thing where you may well need to add your payment option on a 360 even though you already added it on your Xbox One among other possible causes.

Yes, and this seems to be the issue. I have searched for a solution other places and have not found one and I have not received a solution from MSFT and no one here seems to be able to solve.

The reason I ask is to see if you already have any games downloaded from the 360. For some people just starting a 360 game and then trying to buy again fixed the issue. Other people have had luck with re-installing their 360 account.

1. Launch a Backwards Compatible title on your console.

2. Press the Start and Back (View and Menu) buttons at the same time.

3. Select Manage Storage (you will get a warning that you are leaving the game)

4. Select Profiles and find your gamertag and delete it.

5. Press B to back out of the screen and then press the Back and Start buttons again to bring up the menu

6. Select Sign In or press X on the controller

7. Select Download Profile to redownload your profile to the console

When i bought my xbox One I gave my old Xbox 360 to my nephews, so I no longer have access to it. I think the controllers no longer work and they may not have it anymore. All the games I had on 360 were physical discs.

If I had an original physical disc of a game that is now BC and tried to play it in my xbox one might that work? I could probably get one cheaply. I am going to be super ticked if the only way to solve this problem is buying an $80 refurbished Xbox 360
from gamestop.

Yes. Backwards compatibility will work with the discs.

You wouldn't need the 360 for the above instructions. That's all through the One. You just need a 360 game.

smwutches, received the cheapest backwards compatible game I could find in the mail yesterday. Tried your suggested method and everything seems to be working great now. Only cost $5. Thanks.

I tried the factory reset. That was a good idea and I had not tried before, but I still get the same error

The First thing You must have in your account is a credit or debit card to buy It, If You have a credit/debit card and You are having issues to buy It from your console so You have to buy It from your Pc/smartphone/another device with your Microsoft Account,
If It also doesn't work so the only thing You can do is buyin' It from Xbox 360, there is no other Way. Your account may not be a child account but If It were so You would have to do It from Xbox 360 anyway.

It isn't a child account.

I already paid for the game as part of the gold package, but XBOX is not allowing me to download it.

My error is the same one posted here, but I also do not have a 360. XBOX support was unable to offer a solution. This error in one form or another seems to have been around since 2016. I had this problem before, but there weren't many BC games at the
time and none I was too excited about. If one can get a single 360 game on their XBOX One console it seems to resolve the problem, but you need to buy a game using an XBOX 360 console then download on XBOX one. If you don't have a 360 you are out of luck.

Gamespot has them for $80 and I think they have a 30 day no questions return. I guess I could buy one then return.

I wish I had known the details of this a month ago. Just bought a Roku for one of my other TVs and could have simply bought a 360.
