"Can't authorize the selected payment option"

Hi all,

My son's trying to buy CoD:AW digitally for his 360.

He tried earlier and then realised he only had £48 in his account, when he got the "Can't authorize the selected payment option" message.

So he transferred some money (£10) from his savings account to the main account (instant transfer), but is still getting the error.

Any suggestions?

unable to purchase from xbox market place

when I try to purchase anything from the market place I receive the message " can't authorize the selected payment option". I have tried adding a new payment option as suggested but no luck. I have enough in my debit account. Any ideas anyone? Thanks in

He did resolve it, but via another method as he couldn't get his payment accepted on his bank card, so he bought a £50 MS Gift Card, redeemed the code and purchased it using that credit.

It actually worked out better in the end,a s he bought the code form an online retailer and it only cost him circa £42, so instead of paying £49.99 for the DD, he paid £42.

Whatever the problem was, it looks like it has now been resolved. I just waited a few days before trying again, and tried authorizing payment over xbox.com so I could download it later on the console, and it seems to have worked.

Auth Errors are from the bank side. The is a block against reocurring payments on the card. A simple call to your building society and get them to remove the block against your card. I am confident it will work after that.
