Cant add money to my child account to buy V-Bucks at fortnight game on XBOX

If you have redeemed a V-Bucks card through the Fortnite account on the back of the card and used the code generated to add to your individual Xbox account through Microsoft, but the V-Bucks do not show up on your child’s account on Xbox, you can try the following steps:
1. Check if the card was redeemed to the correct account.
2. Check if the V-Bucks are available on the account that redeemed the card.
3. Check if the V-Bucks are available on other platforms such as PC or mobile.

There's a couple options here for you if this is for BR and not STW. If it's for save the work you'd have to use your account and send money to the child acct and they could buy V-Bucks that way otherwise you can buy some V-Bucks on your acct and gift
them what they want in the BR store. You can send 3 gifts per day or week (I can't remember which). I've bought stuff for my son this way.

I looked for the gifting option, but no go unfortunately. I already have money on my account, but I don't think I can transfer that to them. If I purchase the V-bucks on my account would they be accessible from his? Dumb question I know, lol.

You cannot transfer your balance to a child account, but you can add money directly to it. I'll link the support page with instructions for this since it contains other useful sublinks. I think that is your best option here.

But can you tell us if you were signed in with your own account on your laptop when you purchased the V-Bucks?

Does your son have their own child account? Or are they using your adult parent account (which they should NOT do)? If the kid has their own account, and they were added to your Family through
https://account.microsoft.com/family you can gift them an allowance so they can buy stuff like V-Bucks for themselves.

The problem is, that "consumables" like V-Bucks (unlike "persistent" items like games or game add-ons) cannot be gifted/transferred after purchase. So if you made the V-Bucks purchase with your own account, then the V-Bucks went to your parent account instead
of your kid's account.

Maybe this will help avoid such a confusing purchase experience in the future.

The money is showing on the kids account and yes I have to approve purchases. When we go to buy something with V-Bucks we are prompted for a password, which we enter. Then nothing happens as he only has 100 V-Bucks in his account. The issue is
getting the credit changed into V-Bucks.
