Can’t activate multiplayer on second Xbox one purchased for youngest son

Hi, my eldest son has had an xbox one for a year, no issues setting up, he used my microsoft email and password. Youngest son had just got an xbox, when we set it up for him we created a new email and password for him but still through my microsoft account.
Both sons have separate xbox live gold passes but we cant set my youngest up to play live with his friends. Tried everything including ‘live chat’ help for over two hours with a microsoft agent - we just went round in circles! I have no idea what to do, can
anyone help?

A child account has multiplayer play disabled by default, so you'll need to authorise him to do it. Go into Settings on your Xbox (when logged into a parent account) then into Account > Family settings and choose his profile. There you'll be able to control
what he's able to access online.

Hi and thanks.

Logged in with my microsoft details (but my eldest was set up with my email last year). Ive tried to set up ‘family settings’ ‘add new family member’ but i couldn’t add myself as the parent as ‘i already exist’ so unable to get any further!

Yes. So, if your oldest son as the subscription, make sure he sets the youngest sons Xbox as his home console. Then your youngest son will be able to share his subscription and your oldest son can use his own console as normal.

They will both will be able to access games on Game Pass, except EA Play games. This is limited to the subscription holder only. Also, your oldest son will be the only one that can access cloud gaming.

If you purchase any games, make sure your oldest son does it on his account. Then if they both want to play it, just get your oldest son to download it on your youngest sons Xbox.

We have a PS4 in the house (my youngest son’s). He finds the PS4 controllers comfortable, but he’s nine and has small hands. I can’t use them.

I vastly prefer the Xbox One controller style. I wasn’t very fond of the Elite controller, but I find that the Razer Wildcat for Xbox One is the perfect controller for me.

My oldest sons Xbox has just started this showing the same problem. My oldest had a XBox Live (Free) account and so did my youngest, both could play multiplayer on the same world using splitscreen. I have recently upgraded the oldests account to Gold and
now when the youngest wants to play it states that Multiplayer is not allowed. Surely i'm not expected to cough up for another Gold membership to allow the youngest to multi play with his bro ??? Anyone any ideas how to get get around this until the problem
is corrected ???
