    There is probably an issue going on right now with gamertags since a few users just started complaining about it. I would suggest you to wait a few hours to see if the issue goes away.

    Hello! Thank you for your contribution in Xbox Community.

    I understand you want to use the old gamertag and set limits. Transferring the old gamertag is not possible because we cant merge two accounts and the original gamertag is already an adult. A gametag cannot be used once already taken.
