    Just started on PC Game Pass. Here is a synopsis of what has happened so far which leads to the main issue at hand.

    1. Installed Scorn (black screen upon loading; no advice online helped at all; called Microsoft directly and that lead me nowhere; uninstalled Scorn)

    2. Installed other games; so far, the rest do manage to load, at least, but none of them have working save functions: Deathloop fails to save (can't even save an initial file for me to start the game; efforts to save in order to start the game simply default me to main screen); SOMA fails to save (played about four hours, then clicked "Save and Exit" to leave the game, but when defaulted to the main screen, there was no save file available to load; the only option not grayed out was to start a new game; I did so a few times to test the save function; always the same issue: "Continue" is grayed out at the main screen, while the only thing clickable to get back into the game is that of starting a new game again); Medieval Dynasty fails to save (I was able to start a new game, but upon saving to test, the console told me the save had "failed").

    3. So here I am now, having found another method to try: deleting temporary internet cache and making sure that the Microsoft Xbox app processes are set to "running" in the "Services" app of Windows 11; some actually weren't labelled as running, so I set all the suggested Xbox-related apps to running, as suggested—then, after having restarted, the Microsoft Xbox app wasn't installed on my computer anymore, and I couldn't download it again due to some error code that I suppose Microsoft is still working to fix.

    As for what else I have done...pretty much everything I could find in search: I have gotten rid of all overlays since the beginning, when Scorn blackscreened; I have followed many detailed descriptions of how to fix what probably wasn't broken: including running the games in administrator mode; updating the Xbox app; using the aforementioned Services app; uninstalling, reinstalling, and repairing the games individually; etc., etc. Suffice it to say, the only thing I haven't actually done is stop syncing my mobile with my computer. Does anyone know if this would have any potential for a fix? I did read hours ago that it could be a syncing issue. All this time I had brushed it off, but who knows?

    I thought about just deleting the account for my PC Game Pass account prematurely and staying off games. I haven't played a game in months, and now that I want to, this happens. It's kind of depressing; almost uh...disenfranchising, honestly. I never really had many problems playing games in Windows as I grew up—besides the occasional blue screen of death, I was all good. I still do love Microsoft; I switched to this new PC Pass and got a new PC for gaming so that I wouldn't have to touch another chunky console controller again and resort to aiming in-game like I'm throwing a frisbee slathered in honey.

    I implore you, Microsoft: please sit down with your best programmers, and just write out a new app or patch or extension that will fix serious accessibility issues like this saving problem. It is a serious accessibility issue that some new PC Game Pass users like me have basically no way to play any of your available games because they simply can't save within them.

    I do truly appreciate all help rendered.

    Thanks for your assistance on this. I actually am on a PC, not a console.

    Microsoft set me up for help from a very talented gentleman named Willy. Together we checked into whether the error code was fixable—we even ran diagnostics on my computer to see if anything was corrupt. There seemed to have been a corruption. Ultimately, his fix was to create an entirely new Windows login for the computer, and then checking whether the app would update—and, of course, whether the games would save on that new username as well. It did work on the new login: I could install and update the Xbox app, and also save games I played, on the new username. Therefore, I deleted the old one and kept the new. Haven't had a problem since.

    As for what was creating the error and inhibiting me from updating the Xbox app or saving games...these were not fully determined. However, I can say I was trying multiple ways to fix the problem and might have created more issues by playing around with files and parameters after searching several times on how to fix things. I also ran multiple virus scanners and didn't detect any issues. Ultimately, everything works fine on the new username now, so I have no complaints.

    Thank you for posting in Microsoft Community.

    I understand that you have an issue in regard of installing your Xbox app to your computer wherein you encountered an error code "0x80070005". Let’s work together in finding the best resolution to this issue.

    I made research and went to Xbox official website to look for possible ways to fix the issue. I found the following methods below to correct and fix the issue. Please follow the steps accordingly.

    • Method A. Check the Xbox status page. If you see any services with alerts, expand the service, scroll down to Notifications, and sign in to receive a message when the service is up and running again.
    • Method B. Power cycle your Xbox
    1. Turn off your Xbox by holding the Xbox button  on the front of the console for about 10 seconds. The console will turn off.
    2. Turn your console back on by pressing the Xbox button  on the console or the Xbox button  on your controller.
    • Method C. Uninstall and Reinstall Game App
    1. Press the Xbox button  on your controller to open the guide.
    2. Select My games & apps > See all.
    3. Select Games or Apps.
    4. Highlight the game or app you want to uninstall, press the Menu button , and then select Uninstall > Uninstall all.
    5. Reinstall the game or app by inserting the disc or downloading again from the Ready to install tab. To download again, select the game title from the Ready to install tab at the top of the screen. You can also find the game by searching for it in the Microsoft Store.
    Note Installing from a disc does not apply to the Xbox One S All-Digital Edition, which doesn’t include an optical disc drive.

    • Method D. Reset Console
    Warning In step 3 below, be sure to select Reset and keep my games & apps. Otherwise, you’ll reset your console to factory defaults.

    1. Press the Xbox button  on your controller to open the guide.
    2. Select Profile & system > Settings > System > Console info > Reset console.
    3. Select Reset and keep my games & apps. This will reset the OS and delete all potentially corrupted data without deleting your games or apps.

    Do I need a game pass to play Forza Horizon 4 multiplayer on PC ?

    In short, no you don't need Game Pass to play it on PC if you have bought the game.

    Game Pass (not the Ultimate version) has nothing to do with Multiplayer anyway as it just allows you to download free games etc. The Ultimate Game Pass includes Xbox Live Gold within it...however, PC players do not need Gold to play online. That is the biggest benefit of playing on PC, namely not needing Gold so saving money.
