    Cannot run hearts of iron on PC after getting it through gamepass


    After trying to run it through the xbox app I get the message in the attatched image, even though i've verified that this file is where it says it isn't and the message still came up after trying to execute the game through the file it said was missing!

    Please try to reinstall the gaming services and repair the Microsoft store, the Xbox app and the game:

    - Go to start > Search for PowerShell > Right click > Run as administrator. Type the following command and press enter:

    get-appxpackage Microsoft.GamingServices | remove-AppxPackage -allusers

    - Press Windows + R and type in "regedit". Press enter.

    - Search for HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services

    - Delete the folders "GamingServices", "GamingServices.net" (if they're still there).

    - Go to Start > Settings > Apps > Apps & features > Microsoft Store > Advanced Options > Repair, then Reset.

    - Go to Start > Settings > Apps > Apps & features > Xbox App > Advanced Options > Repair, then Reset.

    - Go to Start > Settings > Apps > Apps & features >Hearts of Iron > Advanced Options > Repair, then Reset.

    - Press Windows + R. Type TEMP and press enter. Delete all the files inside this folder. Repeat this step by typing %TEMP% and Prefetch. Delete everything on both folders too.

    - Press Windows + R. Type WSRESET and press enter.

    - Restart your computer. Run Powershell as administrator and run the following commands (one at a time):

    start ms-windows-store://pdp/?productid=9MWPM2CQNLHN

    - Install the app on that page and select Yes when you receive the User Account Control (UAC) prompt.

    - Restart your computer one more time. Open the Xbox App and sign in with the same account as the Microsoft store.

    See if the error persists and please let me know.

    I tried everything you mentioned in that order and the issue still persists, I should also mention that it happens with other xbox app games too

    apologies for late reply, it is the same error as the one in te screenshot and my computer is windows 10

    Thanks for sharing this information. May I ask you if the error for the other games is the same of your screenshot?

    And are you running Windows 10 or 11 on your computer?
