Cannot remove child from family account despite being the ONLY family organiser in the...

As my child was also an organiser of the family I had to sign in to their profile and could change their settings on their login. Despite being a child if they’re an organiser it disables parent functions. So anyway I got it working but that’s not the best security feature.

Thanks perhaps as you say removing the account from the family and re-adding them as a member may fix that too.

That message appears indeed if other person added the child to the family, if it was you

Do you know if maybe in the past you delete an alias on your account?

If not, you may need to request a call from Microsoft due to here, as community members is not possible to access or do things on your account

Ok this is all from memory

So first go to each parent organiser account.

Make sure you remove everyone from it.

Do it from microsoft family webpage.

Leave no remenants of anyone linked to it.

Do it all in incognito so it doesnt remember any details and your not signing in as the same account each time this was important.

Then with each child account.

Do the exact same thing remove from any family and organiser make sure all of them are blank.

Then select one of the parents accounts organiser accounts and make sure its in incognito as well and try adding the child account

Another thing they checked was everyone was in the same region in the profile of each account

Hi Naomi,

If you’re on an adult account (at least 18, or 19 in South Korea), then you can leave the Microsoft Family anytime. Otherwise, if you’re on a child account, a parent/guardian (organiser) would have to remove you.

Note that Family groups without an organiser and at least one other family member will be deleted, so this theoretically should automatically be the result if you’re the only one in the group.
