Cannot reconnect xbox controller to Windows 10 PC

I have a Bluetooth Xbox controller paired to my laptop, but I can't get the controller to connect. When I turn on the controller, the light flashes but it does not connect. I can't find any option to connect it manually, so it seems the only way to connect
it is to remove the controller in settings and then repair it. Am I missing something obvious?

    :)

Cannot reconnect xbox controller to Windows 10 PC

Thanks for the help, it seems to be working OK now. I ran the Bluetooth troubleshooter and it said that it fixed something. Then I removed the controller from the Bluetooth menu, turned all the other Bluetooth devices off and restarted the computer. Then
I re-paired the controller, turned it off then on again and it connected. And to answer your first question, it has worked normally before, but it has been a while since I last used the controller via Bluetooth with this computer.

I've updated the controller using the app, but it says it already has the latest update

    Hi Richard,

That's great to hear everything seems to be working now! I'm glad I could be of assistance. The Bluetooth troubleshooter is a very helpful tool anytime one of your devices is having trouble connecting or staying connected.
