    Cannot launch or install games on xbox app for xbox game pass


    I don't know why this happened all of a sudden but for some reason, I can no longer launch the games I already have installed. Every time I try to launch a game it just redirects me to the Gaming Services app on the Microsoft store. I'm also unable to install new games to which every time I attempt to install a game it just hangs on "Preparing" until I get an error code "0x00000001".

    I was able to play Forza Horizon 5 perfectly fine just a week ago, but now everything is just unresponsive. I'm on Windows 10 and I have the latest update. I've tried a dozen other solutions like reinstalling Gaming Services, deleting registry keys, resetting apps, resetting windows store, etc. What's the point of paying for a game service if I can't even play the games that are offered?

    Hi Samy,

    I'm logged in correctly to the Xbox Console Companion. I can actually launch my games from there and play games as expected. However, when I launch the Xbox App from the Xbox Console Companion I am still not logged in to the Xbox App and cannot install new games or play games from the Xbox App.

    Hey guys, sorry to hear you're having this problem. Please make sure that you're logged into the Windows 10 PC with the same gamertag (account) you bought the pass with. Also, if you haven't already please make sure the Xbox Console Companion is installed
    and has the same gamertag logged in there.

    Download the Beta app and install the games. If you cannot install from the app try launching the Windows Store app and installing the game from there

    Store app claims I need to join Game Pass, but Microsoft Support says I still have 6 weeks of Game Pass Ultimate.

    Previously, the game I want to play (Slay the Spire) would only launch from XBox(Beta) app.

    But now the XBox app is broken, I can't search for the game. It appears to serve no other purpose at the moment then displaying the games that are available on game pass.

    I just received an update for the Xbox app and Microsoft store today. After installing it the issue was fixed. Thank you for the help.

    Yup. I ran the tool and waited for it to go through the whole installation process, but I still got the same issue.
