Cannot Install The Xbox App on Windows 10

    Hello,

I just purchased game pass for PC and am trying to install the Xbox app through the Microsoft store and it refuses to install. It repeatedly gives error code: 0x80070005

    ----

    PC Specs:

    AMD Ryzen 5 1600 Six-Core Processor 3.20 GHz

    32.0 GB RAM

    RTX 3060 ti

I have four hard drives, 2 of them SSD. I have it set to where windows apps install onto one of my SSDs named V:

    ----

    Things I have tried:

    1) Logged out and then logged in with correct account, made sure date, time, time zone and region are correct

    2) Ran WSRESET command as admin

    3) Terminate/Repair/reset Microsoft Store

    4) Ran this powershell command as admin

    Get-AppxPackage -AllUsers| Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register “$($_.InstallLocation)\AppXManifest.xml”}

    5) Deleted the Microsoft Store Local Cache Files C:\Users\Username\AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.WindowsStore_8wekyb3d8bbwe

    6) Clicked on Get Updates in store library

    7) Started and restarted all the Windows Services in the windows services panel

    8) Updated Windows

    9) Uninstalled and reinstalled the Microsoft store with the cmd prompt as admin

    Store Get-AppxPackage -allusers WindowsStore | Remove-AppxPackage

    Get-AppxPackage -allusers WindowsStore | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register “$($_.InstallLocation)\AppXManifest.xml”}

    10) Tried installing apps to a Different Drive, Rename the WpSystem to WPSystem.old

    11) Ran inetcpl.cpl command as admin

    12) Updated Windows 10 to the latest version using media creation tool

    13) Clicked on Start > Credential Manager > Windows Credentials. Search for Xbl|DeviceKey, click on it and then Removed it.

    14) Went to Start > Settings > Gaming > Xbox Networking > Fix it

    13) Ran the following cmd prompts one at a time:

    sfc /scannow
    chkdsk /r
    chkdsk /f
    DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth

    Nothing has worked.

I am at wits end. Any help is appreciated

Unable to install Gears 5 - PC

Seems like Gears 5 needs to be installed using the Xbox PC Beta App. Please check if your Windows 10 is version 1903 or not. If it is an earlier build the Xbox App does not seem to install. i have this problem with my Surface Book 2 which cannot update to
1903 due to an issue with that build and the surface line. This means i cannot install the Xbox PC app, and as a result i cannot install Gears 5.

The store on a regular computer links to your Xbox App on PC which shoudl allow you to install it.

    Xbox Installer stuck

    Hello there!

I recommend that you try following the troubleshooting steps provided on those links, in order to resolve your issue:

Troubleshoot game installations on a Windows 10 device | Xbox Support

Repair apps and programs in Windows 10 (microsoft.com)
I do not think you understood my problem. You see the app is not installed yet, the problem is with the XboxInstaller used to install the Xbox App. The links you sent did not solve my issue. I cannot install the Xbox App because the Installer won't work.

Cannot Install The Xbox App on Windows 10

    Hello Tony Valdez1,

Thank you for posting in the Microsoft Community.

I understand that you are having trouble installing the Xbox App from the Microsoft store. Error 0x80070005 usually means that you don't have the required permissions to access or modify a file or folder.

I can also see that you have performed troubleshooting steps to try and fix the issue to no avail.

If you are running third party software like and antivirus or performance enhancements, disable them.

Make sure you are signed in with an administrator account on your PC.

Try to create a Local account and set it as admin . Please see the steps below.

    1. Select Start > Settings > Accounts and then select Family & other users. (In some versions of Windows you'll see Other users.)
    2. Next to Add other user, select Add account.
    3. Select I don't have this person's sign-in information, and on the next page, select Add a user without a Microsoft account.
    4. Enter a user name, password, or password hint—or choose security questions—and then select Next.
Set the Local Account as an Admin account

    1. Select Start > Settings > Accounts .
    2. Under Family & other users, select the account owner name (you should see "Local account" below the name), then select Change account type.

Note: If you choose an account that shows an email address or doesn't say "Local account", then you're giving administrator permissions to a Microsoft account, not a local account.
    3. Under Account type, select Administrator, and then select OK.
    4. Sign in with the new administrator account.
Create a local user or administrator account in Windows - Microsoft Support

Once you are signed in with the new administrator account, check if there are pending updates from the Windows Update settings.

Try to install the App from the Microsoft Store and see if you are able to.

If this will not work, please search for WINVER from Windows search and open it. This will show your OS Version and Edition, kindly take a screenshot of it and paste it here for us to further check.

We're looking forward to hearing from you. If there are any inquiries about our description or if there are any misconceptions, do reply to the post.

Games with gold - Batman The Telltale series

Yes usually that works, always when you cannot install a game through the console with some error or bug in the store app you can still do the install order (if your console is turn on) through the store website or the xbox app in mobile or windows 10.

Xbox app error 0x00000001 when installing any game

I'm in the same situation as this, I cannot install anything from the XBox app. I could previously but now nothing.

I've done the same steps and performed a full re-install of Windows (10) but the same thing is happening.
