Cannot install or run gamepass games across 4 different devices.

Hi

I have an 2 PCs, an Xbox One X, and just today have bought and Xbox Series X. I am having seemingly related problems across all devices.

On both the xboxes the Microsoft store app takes a very long time to start downloading and when it does it gets to 100%, jumps back and forth between 99 and 100 several times and then just sits at 100%.

Trying to install any game on any device often fails to respond. All devices initially act as though I haven't hit the install button, some indeterminate time later, often after several restarts, the xboxes sometimes add one of the games to the queue. These games then sit there for up to 4 hours doing nothing. The laptop was left running overnight and at some point in the night managed to download Starfield. The xboxes will randomly start downloading but sometimes at 30mbit, more often at 300-600kbit.

I have full factory reset the laptop and the xbox one x. I have removed and readded my account on both the one x and series x.

I have tried all 4 devices on both wifi and wired and have tried connecting all 4 devices to completely seperate internet connections using 2 different phones as hotspots. So far the only difference is on wired the Series X and One X both managed to finish installing the Microsoft store app after about half an hour. The One X was then able to install several games, slowly in fits and starts over the next 3 days, but the one x started giving me an 0x8027025a error.

And I mean for almost everything.

SIGNING IN TIMED OUT WITH ERROR 0x8027025a UNTIL I RESTARTED THE CONSOLE TWICE!!!

Around this time I wondered if any of the games on my main PC would launch. Yep, everything installed by gamepass fails to launch.

The copy of Starfield that somehow managed to install on my laptop fails to launch.

My best guess is that something is wrong with my account so some sort of authentication is repeatedly failing.

Enternaly grateful to anybody who can point me to a way to have Microsoft look into this. I'm paying for gamepass ultimate and it is broken from every direction I can approach it. Every single option I've found in the support site just takes me back to things I've already tried and when something suggests that this could be an account issue the solutions are always 3 ways of restarting the console or waiting for a server issue and no options to solve an account problem. This has been plaguing me for over a month now.

2. Clear the cache on your Xbox consoles: Clearing the cache on your Xbox consoles can help resolve issues with the Microsoft Store app. To do this, follow these steps:

- Press and hold the power button on your Xbox console until it turns off.

- Unplug the power cable from the back of the console.

- Wait for 10 seconds, then plug the power cable back in.

- Turn on your Xbox console and try launching the Microsoft Store app again.

You need to download the game to a single storage device, which has at least 6.7GB of free space. You cannot download it across two different storage devices.

Only gamepass ultimate works with steam deck

Unless you install Windows 10

Steam.os cannot install games because from gamepass games are windows based

Only cloud gaming is supported unless you install Windows 10

actually, the steam deck uses proton to run windows programs. you CAN install windows games on it without windows 10 and they run quite well. In fact, that's the selling point: many of the games that steamdeck runs are the windows versions. There are guides all over the internet for getting everything from EA play, to Gamepass, to GOG, etc running on the steamdeck to play the windows native games on the steamdeck.

as gears 4 is in gamepass that licence overwrites your own licence whilst subscribed and gamepass games cannot be played offline i believe. also there are a large amount of gold games that require online connection to run.

but there is another option to try as you are not connected.

go to settings, network and select offline. this then tells the console to run in offline mode.
