Cannot install games from Xbox (Beta) app on PC on secondary drive

Thanks. I've been able to move it to the SSD in this way:

1. Xbox (Beta) - install on hard drive

2. Settings - set the default install location to SSD

3. Settings - move the game to the SSD

However, the game is crashing upon startup. It also crashes my whole computer, with fans spinning at 100%, and I have to hard reset it.

I tried a few things, updated all drivers and software, but it keeps crashing.

I have a relatively recent PC with all legal software, no overclock, so I don't understand what I'm doing wrong.

All my other games work.

I give up.

Gears 5 is just a piece of [Mod removed- inappropriate]. The same goes for Windows Store. And Windows itself.

Great game to play, but that's a fruit I can't reach.

you might try this as stated in a previous article.

To install apps on a separate drive on Windows 10:

1. Press Windows key + I together to open Settings.

2. Click on System > Storage.

3. Click on Change where new content is saved under More storage settings.

4. Select D drive using the drop down menu under New apps will save to.

You can also install an app and later move the app to a different drive.

To move an app to a different drive:

1. Press Windows key + I together to open Settings.

2. Click on Apps > Apps & features.

3. Click on the app that you want to move, and select Move.

4. Select the destination drive.

I followed the directions and it has worked for me.

Once you follow the directions once you click on install it bring up a box asking where you want to install the game.

If you are like myself and use a modist sized drive for windows and use a larger drive for gaming you generally want to install your games on your storage drive not your boot drive, but as it stands by
default when you goto use the xbox beta app it wont allow you to change from its default installed drive.

A easy to fix this is to goto system- then storage- and under the storage tab find " change where new content is saved" then select "new apps will save to" and select your preferred storage drive.

Then uninstall your xbox (beta) app, and reinstall it, now when you goto install a new game on the pc game pass it will give you the option to select what drive you want to install it on.

This issue happens because by default windows needs to recognize that your pc has the folder called windows app on that drive and that it has been setup by a windows app installer atleast once, for the
xbox (beta) app to recognize the new (useable) install location for your games and apps

Seems like Gears 5 needs to be installed using the Xbox PC Beta App. Please check if your Windows 10 is version 1903 or not. If it is an earlier build the Xbox App does not seem to install. i have this problem with my Surface Book 2 which cannot update to
1903 due to an issue with that build and the surface line. This means i cannot install the Xbox PC app, and as a result i cannot install Gears 5.

The store on a regular computer links to your Xbox App on PC which shoudl allow you to install it.

Thanks the response. Are you attempting to install the Beta App on a hard drive other than your C: drive(Windows Installation drive)? If the Xbox Beta App is still giving you issues will being installed please try restarting your Windows 10 PC and

checking your PC for updates.
