Cannot get NAT open on XBOX ONE; stuck on strict.

saywhattowhom, they use MAC address of Your router to provide to it static IP, because of that Xbox One get different IP address.

Let's check Your router now. We already restored it to factory defaults. Can You please check this settings:

1. Firewall is it Enabled or Disabled now

2. DMZ is it Enabled or Disabled now

3. UPnP is it Enabled or Disabled now

 

1. Firewall is disabled

2.. Dmz disabled

3. Upnp enabled

Now, enable Firewall and reboot You router. After that try to test multiplayer ability on Your Xbox One and when test would be end, press LT+RT+RB+LB for detailed NAT information, if it will be strict, try to press this combination two, three times, this
must force it to refresh NAT state.

 

I tried it. Still on strict.

 

My I ask if your Belkin's WAN/Internet IP address conform with the following IP address:
Current IP Check

A simple Yes, or No will do.

Would this IP address match the first two dotted decimals as follows: 198.16.xx.xx? Which according to you would be a static assigned IP address.

Can you visit the Belkin website and make sure your router (model number along with hareware revision number) is up-to-date with the latest version of firmware. Don't use your routers web-utility to search for the available updates.

If your ISP has assigned you with a static, or fixed IP address, that shouldn't change, then you shouldn't have your routers connection type to your ISP set as "Dynamic". You should set your WAN - Connection Type to Static, along with the IP address, Subnet
Mask and the IP address for your gateway. This information is provided by your ISP.

You can also connect your PC to your modem to find out about this information.

Open the command prompt (cmd) and type "ipconfig" (without quotes). Look at the "Ethernet Adapter" that correspond to the interface connected to your modem. This will give you information about the Default Gateway, IPv4 address, and the Subnet Mask that
correspond to this subnet mask.

I did as you suggested taidara and when I input the information to my router, the internet connection does not work. It only works when it is set to dynamic.

 

Wait, once I input google dns numbers, I got internet connection with static settings. Let me see if I can get my nat open now...

 

Ok, I still am not getting open nat even with static ip settings in router.

I have tried:

1.) firewall enabled, dmz disabled, upnp enabled

2.) firewall enabled, dmz enabled, upnp enabled

3.) firewall disabled, dmz enabled, upnp enabled

Nothing is working. I have not tried port forwarding, but if dmz does not work, then i doubt port forwarding will.

 

I would recommend that you contact your ISP and ask them for the correct IP information, regarding static settings.

I would also recommend that you ask them why you have been assigned with two public IP addresses, when there should only be one public IP address.

 

taidara, he got another IP only when he connect his Xbox One directly to modem, so I guess, they use his router MAC address to provide to him static IP.

 

@zanswerlive - My concern is why this person has two different public IP's on the same interface, when there should only be one. Whichever machine he/she connects to the LAN interface on this modem, it should only be carried by one public IP, regardless
if this is static, or dynamic learned.

When you run the bitwise AND operation, the IP address 100.76.xx.xx correspond to the allocated block 100.64.0.0/10 for use in carrier grade NAT. So, this person still has the NAT'd address assigned.

Ok, I got my nat open! I set the connection to static on my router again with the appropriate ip settings and it opened it immediately. I have my xbox under dmz with firewall enabled. Thank you so much taidara as well as zanswerlive. I guess I internally
did not have the correct settings for the static connection.
