Cannot Download Gears of War Free Game on Xbox 360 (NTSC-J) & Gold Member, Austria

hi

i have moved from Hong Kong to Austria and brought my NTSC Console with me,

i set up a new Xbox Live Account here in Austria and bought the 60€ Gold Membership.

it says I can download free games, now i tried downloading the Free Gears of War V promotional

game, but there is an error saying that it is not compatible with the region of my console.

Are there different promotions for different regions of consoles?

Should the promotional downloads not be region-free?

Should I change the region of my Xbox Live Account to match the region of the console? Ie. Hong Kong?

(REGIONAL PROBLEM) Games w/ Gold: Dead Space

Dead Space is region locked by the EA publisher for the xbox 360. The region of the digital game is only NTSC U/C & NTSC J compatible and if you own a PAL console you will not be able to download the game.

 

How to play NTSC game on NTSC-J Xbox 360 console?

I would like of download the game in ntsc-j, but I live in South America and my Xbox 360 was bought in China.

Is this possible

 

1st yes but you gotta remember most triple a games are region restricteddue to international laws being different

B no as international laws apply to content everywhere regardless of where you state you are

C well your problem is more complicated

First certain games that are banned in certain regions like gta gears halo shadowrun etc have region locks

2Nsthe account region and actual region and console region has to match

In this case you would need a whole new console

 

Basically pal account region + pal actual region + ntscj console = region violation

Ntsc j account region + pal actual region + ntscj console = region fail

Only option for gears is pal pal pal

 

I didnt realize it was that complicated. So when i purchase a game now online through Xbox marketplace it downloads the PAL version of my locale but not the matching NTSC-J version that I can play?

Shouldn't they make a note in the shop then which games are region free and which are not?
