cannot create multiple accounts for multiple controllers

I bought an Xbox One S. It came with a controller. I signed up for a microsoft account, as it was the only way to use the controller.

As I signed up, I was forced to verify my account with a phone number.

Now, a couple weeks later, I bought 2 more controllers so my kids can play minecraft split screen.

Each new controller needs a new account. I'm being forced to verify these accounts with a phone number.

It's not allowing me to use my original phone number that I registered the first controller with.

Do I really need to go out and buy two new phones in order to activate these controllers? Seems a bit extreme.

Can you combine wireless and wired controllers for xbox 360?

Before I spend the money I need some advice…. With multiple players, can you use a
combination of wireless and wired controllers for xbox 360? I cannot find the answer anywhere. Thanks for help before I buy new controllers.

 

Update caused this.

I've had this for a week now. I've tried multiple headsets, multiple controllers, multiple hard resets. All we can do is sit and wait in silence apparently.

 

Nevermind, figured it out. For some odd reason originally it didn't accept the number multiple times but now it is.
