Cannot connect to minecraft servers on chromebook.

My son gets this message: "You cannot play online multiplayer through Xbox Live because of how your account is set up. This can be changed in your privacy & online safety settings on Xbox.com."

I have followed every suggestion I could find online to enable this but nothing works. Right now his account has absolutely NO restrictions whatsoever and it does not work. What kind of error message is this anyway?
It is basically telling me that I am "doing it wrong" with no clue whatsoever about how to do it right.

Yes, we have paid for the ransomware that you call Xbox Live Gold.

He plays as himself on the chromebook but plays as me on the Xbox. The ransomware is associated with me but shouldn't it extend to the whole family? If you tell me that I have to pay for ransomware for each of my kids I will not be happy...

Related to that question...My daughter has the same problem. Can I login to Xbox live on both of their chromebooks using my account so they can both play?

I enabled every single option for him on the link you sent me above. Still gets the same error message.

To answer your questions:

I am doing this online using my computer, not the Xbox. He has no problems with minecraft on the Xbox - it can connect to play multi-player just fine. He has no problems with multi-player with other games on the XBox. He doesn't play any other Xbox games
on his chromebook so we have no way of knowing if there are other problems there.

for now he is signed in to his chromebook xbox live as me and he can play. My daughter isn't home tonight so we will test it for her later and see if they can both play together online as me...

I will try and figure out how to do what you suggest on the Xbox at a later time. The interface is so completely and utterly nonsensical that I end up rolling around on the floor in convulsions whenever and I try to do anything involving settings on the
Xbox. It truly is a testament to how terrible Microsoft is at usability and user experience.

Thanks for getting back to us. Xbox Live Gold subscription is linked only to the account where it was purchased through. It is shareable but only on the Xbox with our feature called

'The Home Xbox' this feature allows one person to be the Home Xbox and it shared Xbox Live Gold to anyone else that signs on the Xbox.

Would you be able to clarify how is it that your son plays Minecraft on his Chromebook? Does he have the Xbox App? Also, would you be able to try to manage his privacy settings through the Xbox? If you go through the Xbox you will need to sign in to your
account which is the adult and manage your family settings from there. I've seen some occasions were the system for some reason doesn't grasp the change through our website.

settings --> Account --> Family --> Child's settings
In the Account <child gamer Tag>'s privacy and online safety settings
Go to the privacy & online safety --> Xbox Live Privacy --> and change it to Adult Defaults "More Social"
Go to Access to Content and then change it to appropriate for ages up to 17.
