Cannot change privacy settings on Xbox account.

Whenever I click the sign in button it comes with a support page saying that I cannot change my Xbox privacy settings. It suggests I leave my family group (I am not in one) in order to be able to change these settings, I do not understand why this is happening even though I am not signed in the first place.. It is really frustrating because I want to connect some of my games to Xbox in order to keep my progress safe, but they cannot connect..

Any advice?

It's possible that your account might be on "Lock Down." Here is a link about changing online safety and privacy settings through the Xbox One:

Hi DuckDash3D, I hope you're doing great out there despite the issue that you're experiencing. I am an Independent advisor and I am here to help you in regards to your concern.

If you're being redirected on a support page when you try and sign in to https://account.xbox.com/settings it means that the system detects that you're still a minor.

In this case, please ask an adult to add you as a member via https://account.microsoft.com/family, and once added, sign in to https://account.xbox.com/settings using the adult account so they can manage your settings.

Make sure to allow the settings that have an arrow on this screenshot:

The solution to your issue is by creating a new Microsoft account with a 18+ date of birth, do not use an existing one you will have the same issue. Make the new account and then make a family group and invite your existing account to that group as a member. Accept it to the group then go into your new account and change the privacy settings on the family group for your existing account. You then have bypassed the Xbox account block.

I have just had this same issue for some unknown reason even though my Xbox account is 18+ on the DOB. This fixed the issue even though it is a little annoying having to change settings through a different account .
