    Sorry, this is just a rant. It seems completely impossible to buy an xbox digital game for my sister who lives in Canada (when I live in the US).

    I gifted a game from the US Xbox site, but she can't activate it because of country locking (and so far Xbox refuses to refund me because she "opened" the gift, but whatever, I'll live).

    I can't buy it on the Canada site because that site is completely locked down to Canadian payment methods.

    I even tried buying an Xbox Canada giftcard online, but my order got cancelled because I'm in the US. I heard you can do with Costco, but I'm not a member. I tried Walmart, where I got cancelled.

    I get that there is regional pricing, and I get there is international fraud. But she's been on xbox for a decade and my MS account is like five years old. It's ridiculous that I can't do this.

    Sucks. I just want her quarantine to be a bit better.

    Hi kenedgely,

    In order to purchase a gift card for someone who lives in another region you have to buy it from a another retailer that sells that region code using your credit card. You can't gift it over Xbox. I just brought a gift card for my cousin who lives in Canada
    from online and they had no problem redeeming the code.

    If you bought it for them through Xbox gifting, the code is region locked. You can give the code to someone else who does live in the US or try to refund it and buy the game somewhere else that would work in Canada.

    Hello Naijaendgooner, from what I understood your sister who is in Canada wants to give Fifa 23 as a gift to you who are in another region.

    Unfortunately, it will not be possible to use the payment method if you are not from the same region as you are.

    Example: if you're in the US, she's in Canada and she can't give you a game from the Canadian region, for it to work, the game should also be from the US.

    Your sister can buy you an xbox gift card from your local amazon or similar retailer and then you can use that to buy the game.
