    Cannot add a new alias


    I am trying to add a new alias to this account from an email that was previously a Microsoft account. I have closed that account in order to use the email as an alias on this one yet I'm still getting an error about the email already being in use. What can I do to fix this.

    Hi,Joe! I'm Luis, a fellow Xbox Gamer . Thanks for reaching us out here.

    That is most likely because once a email is deleted it is completely erased from the system . It won’t be available for use again as an alias on another account. Microsoft doesn’t recycle email addresses, so it can’t be reclaimed at a future time.

    Hello Joshua, by your description you are trying to add an Alias to your Microsoft account, if so you cannot add an existing Alias, you have to create a new one.

    If you create a new one and add the Alias to the account, you don't need to delete the old Alias, you can keep both Alias in the account and login with the new Alis if you wish.

    Hello Sam, by your description you are trying to change the "Alias" of your email, but you cannot add an alias of an account that already exists.

    In case you have to log into the account you would like to change your email and add a new Alias, with that you will have another email as a method of logging into your account.

    You cannot add his email address as an alias as it is already connected with another MS account (his own). There is no way to move any content or saves to the new account.
