cancelled a month trial pass ultimate but normal gold was cancelled too

So I had normal gold until August next year. Got almost two months out of it. Took a month trial of ultimate for £1.00 so that means I have my remaining normal gold upgraded to ultimate until August next year? Decided to cancel it as it would charge me
what would be just access to game pass for 10.99 per month. And it cancelled everything rather than going back to normal? Shouldn't I have just had access to ultimate until the end of the month trial then it revert to normal?

Please make sure that you read the small print next time, for things like this, as it is clearly stated that you will forfeit any remaining time on your subscription, if you cancel.

Note the underlined parts, taken from

this page:

"How do I manage or cancel the Xbox Game Pass Ultimate plan?

You can cancel Game Pass Ultimate membership at any time: Sign in at
account.microsoft.com/services. Under Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, select Payment & Billing, then Cancel. You’ll have an option to end your subscription on its expiration date.


Depending on your subscription’s status, you
may also have an option to end it immediately with a refund of the price you paid for Ultimate only.


Please note, the upgrade of any prepaid time cannot be reverted to Xbox Live Gold or other Xbox Game Pass plans and
is not eligible for refund."

Xbox allows you to cancel the auto renewal feature so that your subscriptions can go on until its last day, and then cancel itself for you.

Since Ultimate includes gold, any gold you have on your account when you buy it is cancelled and automatically upgraded to Ultimate as well. So by cancelling Ultimate you cancelled everything. You can try contacting support to see if there is anything
