Can you wipe the data off a physical game disk?

Discs don't save progress.

Before I do this will it remove all progress from games I have a physical disk copy of and if so can I transfer that data to the cloud.

Actually toasted you stated with the xbox one pre drm reversal you would have been able to buy a physical copy of the disk then turn around and sell the code for the digital copy. This is not true because even after installing the physical copy and playing
it w/o the disc. You would not be able to turn around and sell the physical copy and still have access to the installed version. The drm would have wiped the digital copy off of your hard drive

i haven't tried to save the game data from the normal game to the GOTY issue....but i did used to own Fallout 3, and played it, then sold it. then decided i really needed it again so bought the GOTY issue - and it's exactly the same disk (the box says "Game
Of The Year Edition", the game disk doesn't) but you get an extra disk with all the DL content. You only ever play off the single original F3 disk though - like Forza3 - you load the data off disk 1 - but only ever play off disk 2

on that basis i would imagine you can save the data from your originial F3 game, and carry on from those saves (though please don't come shouting at me if this doesn't work!!)

Wipe the disk in a straight line from center to the rim until it's all been wiped. Wipe the rim, then gently wipe the top of the disk in the same manner as the underside.

Put it in the console and see if it reads. If it doesn't read, open and close the tray a few times to see if it reads.

If not, put it in after wiping it again and turn the console off instead, then see if it runs if you turn the console on with it in. Try that repeatedly too.

If you can get it to run, you're not out of luck. Once it does manage to run, if it will, make sure you get it installed. If you can get it to install then you're going to be fine to run it IF you can get the game to start up when you want to play it. If
it won't install because it's not able to get past a certain point, your copy is ruined.
