You can't get minecraft Java for free if you never purchased Bedrock (only the PC edition applies)

Yes, you can play the game if you have a game pass subscription active.
But if you cancel the subscription the game is going to ask you to buy it

No, you will gave to buy it for a separate platform. I believe the bedrock windows 10 version is also not free for Java users anymore.
