Can you run multiple gamer tags from one Microsoft account

About your concern, yes you will need to create a new Microsoft account in order to create a new gamertag for your daughter. A gamertag can be associated on one Microsoft account only.

You may create a new account via https://signup.live.com and once you have a new Microsoft email address, you may then setup a new gamertag by signing in the new email at https://account.xbox.com/profile page.

hello there i don't think you guys in microsoft are getting the picture how do you remove a gamer tag from a microsoft account so there is no gamer tag on the account? better yet how can you cancel a microsoft account period?

Thanks for coming to the forums with your question. Unfortunately, it is impossible to move gamer tag from one account to another. However, if the account you want to move it to, does not have a gamer tag then you can

change the primary email on the one you want to move with the other email.

There is no way to delete a gamer tag. You can pay to have it changed, but deleting the Microsoft Account will not delete the associated gamer tag and will only make that gamer tag inaccessible since there will no longer be a supporting Microsoft account.

Gamer tags are tied to accounts and can only be changed when you go through the process to change the gamer tag. No one can give you a gamer tag to assign to another account.

So, neither you or as you stated, "people threating to take the tag as soon as it is chnaged" can take that gamer tag.

The gamer tag won't be made available right away if you change the gamer tag on that original account.
