Actually, it does not work that way because Xbox will not be able to provide any information on the owner of the console unless that account is verified. So even with the serial number, you will not be able to identify the owner through that if you do not own the account.

Well, unless the other person files a police report the Pawn Shops hands are tied,as they have no way of knowing it is stolen.

He needs to file a police report first and foremost. Once he has a case number, then the Pawn Shop can refund/replace the console for you. Then they can work with the police to catch the person, and later on return the xbox to the original owner.

It sounds like you and the original owner is most likely fairly close to each other, if you are in the same county, then the police process will go a lot faster.

The original owner will need the serial number, but DO NOT give him the one from the console. He can get his serial number from the Xbox support website, or even possibly call support to get it as well. You can confirm the serial number with him, but i wouldnt
give it to him, let him give you the seril number and see if they match up.
