Can you download a game and then play add-on from a disc?

you can play the red dead undead nightmare disc by itself but in order to play the version you download from the marketplace you WILL need the red dead redemption game disc (same thing with the GTA 4 add on content).

If you buy game digitally from store you can download it if you buy disc you can install the game from disc and play it

FYI in order to use the download version of the LOTD and BOGT add ons you have to have the GTA IV disc in the console that has that add on content. did you try playing those add ons with the IV disc in the console that has the add on downloaded from the
marketplace?

Battlefield 4 is not available for download from the marketplace. Anything that is available would be an add-on for the game and you would need the disc in order to play it.

If it's downloading from the Xbox Live Games Store:

On your console, sign in to Xbox Live.

Go to Games, and then select Browse Games.

Select the game, add-on, or game demo that you want to download.

Select Confirm Download.

If it's installing from a disc:

Insert the game disc into the disc drive.

Go to Home.

Highlight the game you want to install with your controller.

Press X on your controller.

Select Install.

Note To play a game installed on your hard drive, the game disc must be in the disc drive. The console will play the installed game from your hard drive, after the console checks for a valid game disc in the disc drive
