The xbox one wireless controller it turns off after 15 minutes of inactivity. This is a problem on certain games , such as Skyrim, where if a controller is disconnected during the game, you have for terminate and restart the
game as both the keyboard, mouse, and controller will not be functioning.

I'm looking for a way to change the inactivity timeout setting for the controller allow the controller to stay connected for a reasonable amount of time. Most people would be satisfied with one of these timeouts - 15 minutes,
    30 minutes,1 hour, 2hours, never.

Is there way to do this in the driver, registry, or other settings?

    Windows 10

Xbox One Wireless Controller 2 ( with bluetooth and MS Wireless PC adapter )

    :)

I believe the controller will not automatically turn off if it is plugged into the console or PC.

I have not found a way to extend the time. Sometimes I use my controller for listening to movies or shows when I dont want to bother other people and I'm recharging my wireless headset. I can understand your frustration but I dont believe you can
change it. I believe the other ambassadors are right though that the controller does remain on if plug into a USB device.
True. I sit about 8 feet from the screen ( living room gaming PC ) and the USB cord often gets snagged on something, like the coffee table or couch arm, and is pulled out of the controller. Or someone will walk between me and the PC and snag the cord.

At that point, the keyboard, mouse, and controller ( of course ) are not recognized by the game.

The only option I have at that point is to close and restart the game. It takes about 15 minutes and of course I'll lose my process since I cannot save my game.

It sounds like there isn't a way to adjust the timeout. Since Xbox uservoice is shut down ( I loved that site !), is there a way to leave Microsoft feedback on the lack of control over the controller's inactivity timeout?

I believe you cannot change the controller's powering off time, it's used for battery save.
