    Can we get official news on how the HDR calibration tool works?


    I received it as part of the beta ring today and its super easy to use and a much welcomed addition but does it actually apply to all our games right now? Does it overwrite the in game hdr settings? Is it limited to some TV's?

    In addition right now everytime you go into the App the HDR setting seems to reset itself unless thats how its intended to work.

    Unlike the PS5, the Xbox dashboard is displayed in SDR, which is why HDR turns off when you close down the HDR calibration tool.

    HDR / Dolby Vision no longer working on Xbox Series X

    I tried this and it helped get hdr on momentarily but it’s not sticking. HDR shows up as on only when I’m in the calibrate hdr for games menu. Once I get through menu it’s gone again. Anyone have any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

    Edit: hdr is working with some games, but the UI isn’t hdr which I can live with.

    The HDR game calibration tool is for HDR content and games while Dolby vision gaming is for Dolby Vision games and content.

    HDR calibration and Dynamic Tone Mapping

    Hi RoOhDini,

    It really depends on the game you are playing, it can help for some but not for others, Resident Evil 2 has a built in dynamic tone mapper that doesn't really work toowell with the TV feature if active.
    I myself go through the TV calibration tools and he new HDR tool a couple times with a few different settings to find what is most visually pleasing to me. It really does come down to personal preference as everyone has different visual acuity, devices and
    lighting in their homes which affect how things look. Best of luck!

    As far as I know there is no way to “factory reset” the HDR calibration tool.

    But you can try factory resetting your console but keeping games and apps to see if that helps

    But before that try disabling temporarily automatic HDR via settings > general > video options (or similar) > video modes
    Once disable automatic HDR test if you can see a general improve
