Can we add the shift button on the controller to a functioning button?

I want to switch my sticks when I aim my gun. So I want to add the shift button function while still using the LT function. Right now only LT or Shift can be assigned to the left trigger, but not both. I would like to shoot with the left but also move with the left stick. So that when I aim in with LT, my left stick switches with the right sticks function. I have a bad right hand so rather move and aim with my left. There are games that have this setting already like Gears 5 but my other games don’t have it

Or is there another manner you guys pull this off?

Right now I have to use one of my paddles as the shift button but it’s not the easiest to coordinate and perfect

I understand that you want to add the shift button function to your controller while still using the LT function. As it is not possible to assign both LT and Shift to the left trigger on the Xbox controller. You may try to check Xbox Accessories to remap the buttons on your controller to suit your needs or check the in-game settings for remapping your controller. there are a few new commands you can take advantage of in the Xbox Accessories app, namely “Shift.” Using this allows you to add secondary functions to every button on the controller; only activate when you’re holding down whatever you’ve mapped as the
Shift key.

Yes, I can use Shift in Windows. But all shift does is allow you to map the existing buttons to some other button while holding the button you designate as shift. It doesn’t add new mapping options.

This function does already exist. If you look in the Xbox Accessories app for mapping a controller, there are options to enable a "Shift" function and assign it to a button to allow multiple combinations of buttons to trigger different actions.

As far as specific in game assignment, that would have to be implemented by the developer. Have you attempted to use the Xbox Accessories app to assign buttons, and then map them in game?

Thank you for taking the time to post this on the Xbox Forums.

In regards to this, the Adaptive Controller allows you re-map certain buttons to be registered as a different input.

For example, using that
Shift option, allows use a different set of controllers altogether, such as switching to the right stick from the left stick.

For buttons, choose a button on the controller you want to modify with Shift, then choose
Shift. Choose a button from the list (this will be the button that’s used when the Shift button is held down).

The Shift status will reflect the button you’ve chosen.

I hope this was able to clarify any confusion this might have casued.
