Can the joysticks be recalibrated on the controllers?

I have 2 xbox one controllers that both cause the camera angle to drift in most games. They have no damage. One was recently purchased because of this issue but it also now drifts. I am unable to play any games at this point.

    :)

Can the joysticks be recalibrated on the controllers?

Hi PACMAN5583, my name is Daniel. I am an independent advisor who is willing to help you.

For me, it is an honor to write to you and try to help you in any way possible, for my part I will do my best to try to solve any questions/problems you are presenting.

From what you mentioned, it seems that you are having a stick drift problem on your Xbox controller, is that correct? That is to say, it becomes impossible to play since in some other way it constantly moves without doing anything, or am I wrong?

If so, unfortunately, stick drift is not solved by calibration. This is due to wear and tear of parts. I understand that you have a new control that is presenting this problem, so I would recommend checking if you have an active warranty to be able to send it for repair. To do so, you must enter the following link:

    https://account.microsoft.com/devices

You must register your device in this case the control, if you have a warranty you can send it for repair for free otherwise you would have to pay a fee for its repair (Although if it is new it should have a warranty).

Thank you for being so kind, and I wish you good luck.

    Best regards,
    Daniel.

How to Fix Xbox Controller Drift Issue?

    Hello Camie Paiz,

    Welcome to the Microsoft Community.

The Xbox controller drift (also known as joystick drift) you're experiencing is a common problem, especially after prolonged use. Drift usually refers to the controller's joysticks (especially the left or right joysticks) moving on their own without any action, or triggering certain motions when there is no manual input. This problem is usually caused by wear and tear on the joystick sensors or buildup of debris such as dust.
A common cause of drift is the buildup of dust, grease, or dirt under the joystick, which can affect the performance of its sensors. The following methods can be used

    1. Clean the controller:
Turn off the controller and make sure it is not connected to any devices.
Use compressed air or a cotton swab (moistened with a small amount of alcohol) to gently clean the area around the joysticks, especially the edges of the joysticks and the sensor section.
You can also try using a microfiber cloth to clean the surface of the joysticks.

    2. Recalibrate the controller
Xbox controllers sometimes drift because they are not calibrated correctly, try recalibrating the controller:
Open Settings → Devices & Accessories.
Select your controller, click Configure, then select Calibrate and follow the on-screen prompts. 3.

    3. Check the deadband adjustment in Settings
Some Xbox controller drift issues may be caused by the controller's Dead Zone setting. The dead zone is the area of the controller that does not respond when the controller's joystick is not fully returned to center. By adjusting the Dead Zone, you may be able to reduce the effects of drift.
In some games, especially through the Xbox Accessories app, you can adjust the joystick's Dead Zone setting:
Download and open the Xbox Accessories app in the Microsoft Store.
Connect your controller and select it.
In the Settings menu, find the option for Joystick Deadband and try adjusting the deadband value to see if it alleviates the drifting issue.

Please feel free contact me if you need more help.

    Best regards

    Controller joystick doesn't behave properly

Hello! My name is Cristiano. I'm an Independent Advisor. I'm glad to help you.

It seems like there is a calibration issue with your controllers. This can happen over time, especially if you've been using them a lot.

One thing you can try is recalibrating your controllers. This will help ensure that the joystick movements are properly registered by the system.

Here's how you can do it:

    - First, disconnect your controllers from your computer or console.

    - Next, press and hold the reset button on the back of each controller for a few seconds.

    - Then, plug them back in and see if they work properly.

    I hope this helps!

Can my Xbox Series S controller be replaced if it came out of the box faulty/broken

Hi Evan, my name is Rodrigo. I'm an Independent Advisor and a member of the Microsoft community and I'd love to assist you today.

I am sorry to hear that.

If the controller is out of warranty, it's not possible to get it replaced, as you have guessed it.

However, you can recalibrate it! Have you tried?

Please, open the Xbox Accessories app on your console, press the Xbox button to open the guide, then under Profile & system, select Settings > Devices & connections > Controllers & headsets.

Before you recalibrate your controller, check to see if there’s a firmware update available for your controller. If there is, update your controller before you recalibrate.

    Select Recalibration options.

Select the specific thumbstick you want to recalibrate (left or right).

Follow the on-screen instructions to perform the recalibration.
